In 1912, Japan sent a gift of 3,000 cherry blossom trees to the city of Washington, D.C. Every spring, usually the first or second week of April, the cherry blossoms come out, creating a spectacular display at the tidal basin and other places in and around the D.C mall area, drawing thousands of admirers. The peak period of bloom is short and anticipated, especially by photography enthusiasts. I have visited several times during this peak period and have created a new gallery in NATURE with 17 of my favorite images from those visits. Hope you enjoy!
